€60 million Falcao debut goal an early reminder to Chelsea what they missed out on

Chelsea missed out on the signing of Falcao to Monaco, for who he netted on his debut at the weekend.

Radamel Falcao was a striker who Chelsea had intently pursued ever since he struck a hat-trick past them in last season's European Super Cup.

With a huge price tag on his head, Atletico Madrid sold to the highest bidder, which sadly for Chelsea was Monaco.

The super-rich Ligue One club have been this summer's biggest spender in the transfer window to date, also signing James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho.

Chelsea have since appeared to miss out on Edinson Cavani, who has today passed a medical with PSG, and remain in search of a top class striker.

Falcao has already begun showing them exactly what they missed out on, netting in his first ever appearance for Monaco at the weekend.

The Colombian linked up with compatriot James Rodriguez to score the first goal in a surprise 3-2 loss to Fortuna Dusseldorf.

The shootout between Cavani and Falcao in Ligue One promises to be quite spectacular over the course of the season. It's just a shame for Chelsea that they missed out on both of them.
