12pm Sports News: Featuring Higuain, Haye, Anderson

A round-up of sports news featuring Arsenal transfer target Gonzalo Higuain

Arsenal transfer target Gonzalo Higuain has resumed training with Real Madrid today, after a summer hiatus which has seen him strongly linked with the Gunners and Juventus.

Reports from Italy have also suggested that Napoli are ready to weigh in with a €30 million offer, with funds they hope to raise by selling Edinson Cavani.

Manchester United have missed out on Thiago Alcantara, who signed for Bayern Munich yesterday, and must not turn their attention to alternatives.

David Haye is gearing up for his heavyweight boxing bout with Tyson Fury, amid a war of words between the pair.

Fury has cast doubt on whether the Hayemaker has much left in him, ahead of the fight on September 28.

He said: "You also have to question how much Haye has got left in him. He’s a bit of a celebrity fighter these days, isn’t he?

“He has got other avenues of earning a living — he’s a good- looking guy, he can talk, so I’m sure he could go into the movie scene.

“He’s said he wants to be the next James Bond and I’d vote for him as the next one when Daniel Craig packs up."

England cricketer Jimmy Anderson is the toast of England after his five-for yesterday which skittled the Australian lower order, including the crucial late wicket of Brad Haddin.

England have named an unchanged squad after winning the first Ashes test, ahead of the second which begins at Lords on Thursday.

Anderson has told the media he regards his efforts as the finest performance of his career to date.
