Ubisoft teases Far Cry 4 news

Far Cry 3

Publisher promises more information; suggests sequel will embrace “open world”.

Ubisoft has told gamers to brace themselves for more information about Far Cry 4, which it promises is coming “soon”.

The French publisher's senior vice president of marketing and sales, Tony Key, told GameSpot that a sequel to 2012's smash-hit success Far Cry 3 was inevitable.

“We're totally psyched from [Far Cry 3],” he explained, adding: “It's a great brand, and now it's got the recognition it deserves, so we're clearly going to make another one: more on that soon.”

The executive went on to speculate what the future game could look like, saying that most fans want open-world non-linear titles.

He continued: "I think open world can represent the future of, you know, gaming, and that’s where we’re investing huge portions of our resources - because we believe that that is what consumers want."

Far Cry 3 was a commercial and critical success, with the 2013 gaming BAFTA's nominating the title for Action, Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Best Game, Game Design and best Story categories.
