The starting line-up for David Moyes’ first game in charge has been announced.
This afternoon David Moyes will take charge of his first match as Manchester United manager.
While the real business doesn’t start until the Community Shield against Wigan Athletic and the opening Premier League match against Swansea a week later, all eyes will be on Moyes and his men today.
The match – against Singha All Star XI – is the first on United’s pre-season tour, and with only one recognised striker following Wayne Rooney’s injury, the unavailability of Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez’s extended break, the pressure will be on Danny Welbeck to supply the goals.
Many of United’s more familiar faces will join the tour at a later date, while injuries to the likes of Nemanja Vidic, Nani, Ashley Young and Chris Smalling will give chances to some of the younger players desperate to impress the new boss.
Below is the side to start this afternoon’s match:
Fabio, Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans, Alex Buttner
Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley, Ryan Giggs, Anderson, Adnan Januzaj
