If this team wants him Taarabt will leave QPR; and Barton is egging him on

Adel Taarabt

Joey Barton would like Adel Taarabt to join him at Marseille ... and Taarabt is open to the idea as well.

QPR have so far done little to shed their squad of the big wage earners like we thought they might.

They managed to get the likely massive salaries of Chris Samba and Djibril Cisse off the books but other players are certainly expected to be on their way.

Loic Remy, Julio Cesar, Stephane M’Bia and Julio Cesar are all expected to leave along with two more players both dying to join the same team in the south of France.

First of all we bring you the curious case of Adel Taarabt.

Undoubtedly this boy has bags and bags of talent but he appears to have just as much attitude to go with it.

He was excellent the last time he was playing football at a Championship level but the Premier League has proved too much for him.

Last season I repeatedly called for him to be simply dropped from the team. I understood that many thought he was putting in more of a shift but running round like a headless chicken with or without the ball is not going to help anyone in a relegation battle.

And this summer it seems enough is enough after Harry Redknapp sent him home from the clubs pre-season game against Exeter City after the gloved wonder turned up late for a training session.

And he has made it clear where he would love to play… and Joey Barton seems to be behind the idea:

"My favourite club? The OM! I have not had direct contact but my friend Joey Barton told me all about the club. He even told me: "The L1 is a championship for you, you can always blow defenses." If OM wants me, I'm going! I still have my sisters to Marseille . This is the first club I've supported. This is a great club where you can really explode if you have one or two good seasons. "

Joey Barton would also love to be at Marseille next season after falling for the city and its fans during his six-month loan spell at the Stade Velodrome last season; but so far no deal has yet been agreed between the two clubs in question.

But considering it is what they both want and the disruption both players can undoubtedly cause if they are caught in the wrong mood surely QPR will be open to selling the pair to l’OM at the right price.

But while Marseille definitely want Barton ... who is to say they want Taarabt?
