The saga relating to Gonzalo Higuain drags on, but it appears Real Madrid are quite content to hang onto the striker.
In fact they are losing faith that Arsenal really want him, focusing their attentions on Suarez instead.
Here's what Spanish paper Marca have had to report this afternoon:
"The only players the club is open to offers for at the moment are Gonzalo Higuaín and Fabio Coentrao, but both wantaways are some distance from achieving their goal of engineering a move away from the Bernabéu.
"The Argentine has expressed a desire to move on because he feels his time in Madrid has run its course and he wants a new challenge. However, though the club isn't actively standing in his way, it claims that no firm bids have been tabled for 'Pipita'.
"Higuaín was in advanced talks with Arsenal at one stage, but the Gunners appear to have gone cold on the deal, to the extent that they have even offered Liverpool €50 million for Luis Suárez.
"Ancelotti, meanwhile, hasn't closed the door on the former River Plate youngster and would be delighted for him to stay. In other words, unless someone comes up with a big-money offer above the €30 million mark, Real Madrid has no plans to negotiate."
It's a simple message for Arsenal. Show us the money.
If the 'bid' for Suarez was a negotiating tactic then it has backfired. For Madrid now know that Arsenal are ready to pay more for a player they apparently value more highly.
And it seems they view that Arsenal just don't want Higuain badly enough.
It's time for Arsenal, if they want the striker, to put the money on the table, show their hand and meet Madrid's demands.
Or move on. And perhaps they already have.
