News and gossip from the past 24 hours at The Emirates.
There is not much new going on at The Emirates just updates on various stories that continue to progress.
Firstly, Luis Suarez, and Arsene Wenger has refused to rule out the possibility of signing the Uruguayan from Liverpool this summer; but was in general not giving much away.
When probed on the issue of the clubs reported interest in the player during a press conference in Indonesia he said:
‘’Suarez? As you know the transfer period demands secrets and confidentiality, so I can't answer the question."
It comes as reports suggest they will be upping their bid for the Liverpool man with a higher threshold of £40 million likely to be enough to pry him away from Anfield.
The news arrives as, despite my optimism yesterday evening, the deal for Gonzalo Higuain looks to have gone even sourer. It now appears Real Madrid will not accept a bid below €30 million for the player and that The Gunners have gone cold on a deal.
Jack Wilshere has been speaking about the upcoming campaign; claiming it is a ‘big season’. He feels the club need to take advantage of the fact that the usual pretenders to the Premier League crown have all changed managers whereas they still have Arsene Wenger at the helm; now the longest serving gaffer in the league.
‘’It's a big season ahead for us. A few of the other big teams have changed managers this season and we've got a manager who has been there a long time. He knows the league, so it's a big season for us, hopefully we can push on.’’
The Cesc Fabregas rumour has also carried on into today; as reports over his apparent £25 million buy-back clause has seen many a source claim that they will go in for their former captain.
The Daily Star have carried reports from Holland that the Gunners are willing to test Newcastle United’s resolve for Dutch international goalkeeper Tim Krul. It comes as Julio Cesar looks likely to join Napoli and it is reported an offer of £6 million could be lodged for the 25-year-old.
However on the site we have asked if Arsenal could be the mystery club interested in St Etienne’s French international stopper Stephane Ruffier?
