Chelsea latest: Including De Bruyne and Rooney

Kevin De Bruyne

A round-up of news and views relating to Chelsea over the past 24 hours.

Kevin De Bruyne has said he is desperate to impress Jose Mourinho during pre-season after being included in Chelsea first team plans for next season. De Bruyne spent last season out on loan at Werder Bremen, but is now ready to make an impact at Stamford Bridge.

“The manager said he has a lot of confidence and brought me back because he believes in me,” he told Chelsea’s official website.

'I have to show that on the pitch, but it is nice when the trainer has confidence in you. I have to work hard and see what happens in pre-season.”

Mourinho himself has said he is looking forward to Chelsea’s tour of Asia because of the passion the fans there have for football. Chelsea play friendly matches in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia, before heading to the United States.

Chelsea are reportedly ready to bid for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney if they can sell either Demba Ba or Fernando Torres this summer. Although David Moyes has said he wants to keep Rooney at Old Trafford, there is still doubt over the 27-year-old’s future at Manchester United after he indicated he wanted to leave near the end of last season. Rooney today returned from Manchester United’s pre-season tour of Asia with a hamstring injury.

Liverpool are ready to challenge Chelsea for another apparent striker target, Galatasaray’s Burka Yilmaz. The Turkish striker scored 32 times for Galatasaray last season, and could be targeted by Liverpool as a replacement for wantaway forward Luis Suarez.

Sporting Lisbon winger Bruma was the victim of an attempted kidnapping after he informed the Portuguese club of his desire to leave this summer. Chelsea are keen to sign the 18-year-old, who has been described as the next Cristiano Ronaldo, but could face competition from Galatasaray. Bruma’s agent, Catio Balde, said they would be pressing charges against those responsible for the attempted kidnapping.

On HITC today we look at Bruma's eventful week, and also suggest Daniele De Rossi is the perfect signing for Chelsea. We also ask if Romelu Lukaku’s experience at Chelsea might warn Christian Benteke off a move to the Blues, and look at Jose Mourinho’s five previous free transfers.
