Aston Villa latest: Including Benteke latest and Roma in for Bent

All of the latest stories connected to Aston Villa football club.

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert says Christian Benteke has seven days to sort himself out. Lambert has warned the striker he has just a week to get his head straight and re-focus or he’ll be left out in the cold by Aston Villa. The deadline seems to be Lambert extending a lifeline to the striker.

Stan Collymore says Christian Benteke is playing a very dangerous game with Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert. Collymore says Benteke has put pressure on himself to move away from the club and could find himself confined to the bench in a World Cup year if he can’t pull off a transfer.

Aston Villa fans have voted on Christian Benteke, with three quarters of supporters urging the club to axe the Belgian. Villa are yet to receive an offer for the forward but it’s clear that the fans would rather have a lower quality committed player than a striker who doesn’t want to be at the club.

Chelsea could include Romelu Lukaku in any bid for Christian Benteke according to the Daily Mail. Although Villa have Nicklas Helenius in their ranks, it’s likely that Paul Lambert will seek extra attacking support in the event that the Belgian does complete a move away from the club.

Aston Villa secured a 1-1 draw at the start of their pre-season tour of Germany. The Premier League side played SV Rodinghausen and gave appearances to the club’s new signings with striker Nicklas Helenius bagging Villa’s only goal of the friendly match.

Roma are reportedly interested in offering Darren Bent a way out of his Aston villa nightmare. The 29-year-old is up for grabs at around the £5 million mark and Roma seem to be interested in him due to his history of goalscoring in the top flight of English football.

Former Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey has become the latest to question Christian Benteke’s desire to leave the club. Benteke has handed in a transfer request but Heskey says it’s going to be difficult for him to move on and adjust to a different kind of pressure.

Former Aston Villa favourite John Carew says the club are better off without Christian Benteke. Carew says it’s the striker’s loss for wanting to get away from the club and he’s even suggested that Benteke doesn’t deserve to be an Aston Villa player for the way he’s acted.
