Jose Mourinho has apparently told Juan Mata and Fernando Torres to ignore speculation about their future, and assured both players they are in his Chelsea plans for the future. There were rumours that Mourinho would be open to offers for both players, despite Mata’s exceptional form last season.
Chelsea have been given hope in their pursuit of Edinson Cavani by the news that Leonardo has decided to step down as director at PSG at the end of the transfer window. The Brazilian has been integral to the Ligue 1 champions’ transfer dealings this summer, and the Blues might hope his departure will open the door to a late bid for Cavani, who had seemed certain to join PSG. However he will not step down until the end of the transfer window so the effect may be limited as negotiations continue with Cavani's representatives.
Reports in Spain today have suggested that Oriol Romeu will complete a loan move to Valencia shortly, with the 21-year-old keen to push through the switch as soon as possible. Romeu made just six Premier League appearances for Chelsea last year, with an injury ruling him out for most of the second half of the season.
Christian Benteke reportedly favours a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer after handing in a transfer request at Aston Villa, with Chelsea also apparently keen on the 22-year-old striker.
