A round-up of transfer news relating to Chelsea over the past 24 hours.
Branislav Ivanovic has said that the was impressed by Jose Mourinho after experiencing his first day of training under the Portuguese manager. Ivanovic arrived after Mourinho’s first spell at Stamford Bridge, but believes he can lead Chelsea to success once again.
"We had our first meeting with Mourinho. He looks very impressive which is very pleasing,” he said.
"I think that with him in the future, Chelsea will act as a team, but we will also improve individually.”
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has said he is flattered by the interest shown in him, amid rumours of interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea. The has made his desire to leave Liverpool clear this summer, but initially suggested he would look to leave England due to perceived media persecution. However Arsenal have reportedly had a bid turned down for Suarez, with Chelsea also apparently monitoring the situation. However Suarez revealed he laughs when the possibility of joining Chelsea is mentioned; probably alluding to his biting incident with Ivanovic last season.
Chelsea are in talks with 17-year-old striker Islam Feruz about a new long-term deal with the club, with several Premier League sides keeping tabs on the youngster’s situation at Stamford Bridge. Feruz joined Chelsea from Celtic in 2011, and has impressed in their youth academy since then. Feruz could go out on loan next season if Chelsea do tie him down to a new deal.
Romelu Lukaku, Nathaniel Chalobah and Kevin De Bruyne were all pictured training with the first team in Chelsea’s first day of pre-season today. The trio all impressed out on loan last year, and might hope to challenge for a senior place next season.
Chelsea will reportedly have to increase their offer if they want to sign Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi. The Italian club have rebuffed a £10million bid from the Blues, and are apparently holding out for nearer £15million for the 29-year-old.
West Brom have rejected a compensation package from Chelsea for 16-year-old Isaiah Brown. Brown is rated as one of the most exciting young talents in the Premier League, and the fee Chelsea will have to pay West Brom could now need to be settled by a tribunal.
