Luis Suarez’s agent has revealed the striker does want to play Champions League football but will not force a move away from the club. Suarez was the subject of a £30 million bid from Arsenal and has also been linked with possible moves to Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Liverpool are one of the clubs on red alert following Christian Benteke’s decision to hand in a transfer request at Aston Villa. Brendan Rodgers could have more cash to spend than many appreciate following the club’s failure to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Shakhtar Donetsk.

West Ham United are lining up an approach for Liverpool midfielder Stewart Downing. Sam Allardyce is thought to be keen on finding a player who can provide reliable service to huge central striker Andy Carroll. Downing revitalised his Liverpool form but the club are reportedly keen to free up his wages.

Liverpool have been dealt a double blow with confirmation that two midfielders won’t be joining the club this summer. Henrikh Mkhitaryan has signed a long term deal with Borussia Dortmund while Xabi Alonso has ruled out the chance of a Premier League comeback.

Former West Bromwich Albion youngster Yan Dhanda has signed for Liverpool, turning down moves to Chelsea and Arsenal. The 14-year-old took to Twitter to announce his decision and he becomes the first player of Indian origin to ever represent the club.

Valencia full back Aly Cissokho has described Liverpool as a great club. The left back has been linked with the club on and off for the last few months but says he won’t confirm if he’s joining Liverpool until he’s passed a medical and agreed terms with the club.

Jay Spearing has moved one step closer to leaving Liverpool. The club have accepted a £1.75 million offer for the player from Blackburn Rovers, which means he’s free to leave if he can agree personal terms with the club and complete a medical without any problems.

Brendan Rodgers says he is delighted to have captured Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas ahead of the new season. Rodgers says he’s excited to see how they both get on and that he won’t put either player under any unnecessary pressure once the competitive games start coming think and fast.

Liverpool’s head of performance Glen Driscoll has said the squad is in superb shape. Liverpool’s first team stars have only just returned for pre-season training but the man tasked with monitoring their fitness has assured fans that the squad is shaping up well for the start of the new season.
