Remember when Thierry Henry and Robert Pires tried to be too clever for their own good?
It came in a Premier League match against Manchester City in 2005/06, when Henry decided to pass a penalty for teammate Robert Pires with quite frankly hilarious results as the pair fluffed their attempt to score.
Pires later spoke about the incident an interview with FourFourTwo magazine:
"Aaaaaah! The penalty! The idea was Titi’s but I was the one that got it wrong. Wenger didn’t say anything because we won and I scored, but if we had lost he’d have killed me. Titi had seen Johan Cruyff do it. I didn’t want to do it, I didn’t feel comfortable, but he insisted and insisted and insisted. When I got to the ball, I don’t know what happened, I still don’t."
Well move over Robert, because his old teammate found a player more 'ready' for the scenario, in Florent Malouda. This time Henry was the one passing the ball, while the previous attempt saw him as the one attempting to score.
The former Chelsea man was playing alongside Henry in a charity match organised by Lionel Messi when the pair finally pulled off the feat.
