Tottenham Hotspur latest: Villa no-go and Perez cites 'good relations'

All the latest Tottenham Hotspur news and gossip.

Tottenham have suffered a blow in their pursuit of striker David Villa, with the 31-year-old sealing a transfer to Atletico Madrid this afternoon. The fee is under £5 million, with Barcelona said to have ceded to their striker's wishes to remain in Spain by rejecting Tottenham's higher offer.

Spurs have been linked with Inter Milan's 25-year-old defender Andrea Rannochia. The centre-back is also interesting Arsenal and Manchester United, claim the Express.

Images of Tottenham's kit for the 2013/14 season have been released earlier than expected, featuring new/old sponsor Hewlett Packard, or HP as it is emblazoned on the shirt. The shirts are described as a tribute to the club's kits during their 1960s success, and images can be viewed of them on the club's official website.

Gareth Bale is back in training at Spurs, with the Mail describing it as 'the sight Spurs fans thought they would never see'.

Meanwhile Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has stated that the Spanish giants have made no offer for the Welshman:

"He is a great player who belongs to a club we enjoy good relations with, but we have not made any offer."

With Tottenham linked with Madrid's Jese Rodriguez over the weekend, we have looked at the two big obstacles blocking Spurs signing the young star, notably the desire at the Bernabeu to see the player stay and be a part of the attack for 2013/14.

And finally, Spurs fan and writer Nick Harris considers the prospect of Arsene Wenger and Andre Villas-Boas facing off in over a year's time, in the French league, for PSG and Monaco as has been touted by the foreign media.
