Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has handed in a transfer request, the club have confirmed.
Manager Paul Lambert said: "While we're hugely disappointed that Christian has put in a transfer request, it's important that people appreciate we are trying to build something strong and vibrant here at the club - something this club demands and stands for, and we want Christian to be part of that."
He will not travel on the club's pre-season tour of Germany.
Can it be just a coincidence that this development has come less than 24 hours after Chelsea were linked with making a major bid for him.
Now he has given them the green light to do just that.
It would appear his head has been turned by the prospect of joining the Londoners and working under Jose Mourinho.
But it would not be just that. It would see him link up with Belgian international teammates Kevin de Bruyne, Eden Hazard and Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku and Benteke are close buddies, and the pair have told previously how they would link up in the Midlands while Lukaku was at West Brom on loan and travel to Belgium together for international duty.
The chance to play together regularly, in a year leading up to the World Cup for Belgium, is likely a big motivator.
Benteke previously described Arsenal as a 'dream club', and it is possible they could switch their attentions towards him, and while Tottenham are admirers, it's likely they will be priced out by Villa.
Chelsea on the other hand have money to burn, and have barely spent any so far.
Surely they are the move Benteke has his eye on, and he may just be an idea striker for the club to compete with and play alongside Romelu Lukaku.
Do you agree Benteke has his sights on a Chelsea move? What do you think of his actions?
