Chelsea transfer news: Blues prepare huge De Rossi bid

De Rossi Tackle On Rooney - England v Italy Euro 2012

The latest Chelsea transfer news stories including Daniele De Rossi, Luke Shaw and Oriol Romeu.

Chelsea will make a bid of €17.5 million for Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi according to weekend reports.

The Italian midfielder is thought to be high on the agenda for Jose Mourinho as he looks to compensate for John Obi Mikel’s imminent exit to Turkish club Galatasaray.

Mourinho tried to sign De Rossi during his first spell as Chelsea manager and also made an approach for him during his time in Spain with giants Real Madrid but was unsuccessful on both counts.

Southampton defender Luke Shaw is set to sign a new contract with the club, ending speculation that he could join Chelsea.

Shaw was identified as a possible long term replacement for current left back Ashley Cole and several other big sides including Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur were also thought to be interested.

The news is superb for Ryan Bertrand who was deputy at left back to Cole last season and will continue in that role if Jose Mourinho doesn’t make another signing this summer.

Oriol Romeu has said he wants to leave the club to go and play in La Liga next season.

Romeu was signed at Stamford Bridge from Barcelona but has struggled to make a big impact during his time at the club, keen to get some regular first team football under his belt.

“I have spoken with Oriol and I say sincerely that he is very taken by the option of Valencia. The squad is perfect for a player to progress,” said Valencia star Sergio Canales.
