A poll in Spanish newspaper Sport saw Barcelona fans asked over the weekend which striker they would love to sign, as if their forward line of Neymar and Lionel Messi required further help.
The results show Wayne Rooney as the top target of their affections, most intriguingly.
35 per cent responded that they would like to sign the Manchester United striker, ahead of Borussia Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski (27 per cent).
In fact Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, a player who has been linked with the Spaniards in the past, picked up just five per cent of the vote.
The Manchester United man may be more attainable at present, with Aguero seen as key to City's plans under Pellegrini, but the difference seems a little disproportionate to us.
On one hand you have Sergio Aguero, a player proven in Spanish football, an international teammate of Lionel Messi, who would be a guaranteed hit at the Nou Camp.
On the other is Wayne Rooney, a player who has never played at a non-English club, and one who you might think may struggle to adapt culturally to Spain, not to mention how he may react if he is left out the team as regularly as Michael Owen was at Real Madrid.
Both players are natural goalscorers, and officially are 'not up for sale' by their clubs, as David Moyes confirmed in reference to Rooney on Friday, and the poll is a little bit of a moot point.
Whether Barcelona fans still harbour hope a deal could be done is another matter, but if they really had a dream striker to complete an unstoppable trio with Neymar and Messi, we'd be selecting Aguero and not Rooney.
Who would you pick as a better fit at Barcelona? Aguero or Rooney? Are the Barca fans misguided?
