Wayne Rooney's future remains a mystery, and Barcelona are one of the club's claimed to be attempting to capitalise on that.
The Red Devils if they have to sell would like to do so to a foreign team, rather than Premier League rivals Arsenal or Chelsea.
Their report reads that they want to offer €25 million Euros for Rooney plus striker David Villa to seal the deal.
It reads: "If David Moyes saw kindly to Villa joining the ranks, the board (led by) Sandro Rosell would show willing to pay up to 25 million euros in signing Rooney."
Villa is Spain's all-time leading goalscorer and scored a memorable goal for Barcelona in the Champions League Final against Manchester United at Wembley in 2011.
At 31-years-old there will be a number of observers questioning how much he has in him, with Barcelona viewing him as surplus to requirements.
Tottenham have been chasing his signature, but the prospect of him heading to United is certainly a new one.
It may not be a bad deal. United would get shot of the troublesome Rooney, and acquire a proven strike partner for Robin van Persie in return.
It would however place further threat over the future of Javier Hernandez, which is one reason for United to back off a deal for Villa.
But if Moyes finds himself unable to solve the Rooney conundrum, this offer could be his best get-out-clause.
Would you take the offer or leave it?
