Gears of War producer jumps ship to work on BioWare's sci-fi franchise.

Gears of War developer and former Epic Games stalwart Chris Wynn has revealed that he is leaving the company to take up a role with BioWare working on the next Mass Effect game.

Currently in the early stages of development, the follow up to Mass Effect 3 will see Wynn take on the role of senior development director, according to his Twitter feed.

“Thrilled to announce that I will be joining BioWare as Sr. Development Director on the next Mass Effect!” he revealed to his Twitter followers.

Dubbed by fans and pundits as “Mass Effect 4”, BioWare has already revealed that the title will not be a direct sequel to the original trilogy and should be thought of as a spin-off.

Wynn's departure is the latest in a string of high-profile desertions that the Unreal Engine and Gears of War developer Epic Games has experienced recently.

Prior to this, the studio lost is president Mike Capps, top producer Rod Fergusson and lead designer Cliff Bleszinski.
