Five facts about Tottenham target Alberto de la Bella

Will Tottenham Hotspur convince Alberto de la Bella to leave Real Sociedad?

Transfer news at the tail end of last week linked Tottenham with an intriguing swoop for Spanish defender Alberto de la Bella.

The Mirror reported that Spurs had an opening bid of £3 million turned down by Real Sociedad, but are likely to return for the player.

De la Bella helped his side finish in the top four last season in La Liga and could face Tottenham's rivals Arsenal in the Champions League qualification round.

As Andre Villas-Boas no doubt works on a pitch to try and tempt him away from a chance to play in Europe's elite competition, what do fans need to know about the player himself?

Here are five facts about him...

1) De la Bella is a 27-year-old left-back who would replace Benoit Assou Ekotto if as rumoured the Cameroonian international moves on this summer.

2) After attempting and failing to break into the first teams of Espanyol and Sevilla, he clinched a move to Sociedad in 2009 where he earned a starting spot and has not relinquished it since.

3) He has never been capped by Spain but has played for the Catalunya team.

4) De la Bella has scored four goals for Sociedad in total, three of them coming last season.

5) No defender for Sociedad last season made more tackles than he did (91).
