Five Tottenham Hotspur players to watch in pre-season

Tottenham Alex Pritchard

We highlight five players Spurs fans should keep their eyes on this summer.

As July is at its advent professional footballers can start to think about getting back to work with many of them likely to be itching for the opportunity.

Andre Villas-Boas has so far stuck with the team as has Gareth Bale and Paulinho looks set to soon join the club so it has so far been a good summer for the club.

They travel to Hong Kong in July while a trip to Monaco is also in the reckoning but which players should you be keeping your eye on this summer?

Adam Smith

The England Under-21 international is just dying for a chance in the Tottenham first-team fold after yet another impressive loan spell last year; this time at Millwall.

The right-back has some way to go before usurping Kyle Walker in the starting line-up but he would do himself no harm with a solid summer.

Alex Pritchard

The undoubted star of the clubs NextGen Series campaign last season he will hope to be given a chance to prove himself this summer.

He recently recovered from injury to feature for England at the under-20 World Cup in Turkey, which did not go exactly to plan, so he will be looking forward to put that behind him.

Emmanuel Adebayor

Which Adebayor is going to turn up this season? The one who trotted, disinterested and jaded, around the White Hart Lane turf against Manchester City?

Or the one who tore into Chelsea at will?

We may get some clues to that over the next month.

Lewis Holtby

The German international only joined Spurs in January and clearly struggled at times to adapt to a new style of football.

Hopefully a summer break will help and he can be the sterling midfielder we all know he is capable of becoming.

Younes Kaboul

Sandro will not be fit to return for pre-season but the French centre-back should be able to return after spending the entire of last season on the sidelines.

It will be interesting to see if he has lost any yard of pace as a result of his knee injury because if he hasn’t he would be as good as a new signing for AVB.

Who do you think we should keep an eye on this summer?
