Chelsea transfer news: £45m Cavani bid and Lukaku wanted in Turkey

Transfer news from Stamford Bridge including Edinson Cavani, Romelu Lukaku and Kurt Zouma.

Chelsea have reportedly made a fresh bid believed to be in the region of £45 million for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani. It emerged yesterday that both club and player had reportedly agreed terms on a deal which simply left the Blues to sort out the price with the Italian side. However, despite the Uruguayan’s excellent scoring record, they are reluctant to pay the massive buy-out fee in his contract which is set at £52 million.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has made it clear that the 26-year-old will be going nowhere until that valuation is met.

Chelsea are after another striker to rival Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku next season.

Today is the official day players become free agents; and Chelsea have therefore confirmed the permanent departure of four first-team players ahead of the new season. Paulo Ferreira, Florent Malouda, Yossi Benayoun and Ross Turnbull are the three players in question. Ferreira has retired from football; Benayoun is in discussions with West Brom as well as teams in MLS; Florent Malouda is said to be talking to teams in France and Olympiakos of Greece; while Ross Turnbull has been linked with a return to Middlesbrough.

Besiktas were reportedly in the running to sign Romelu Lukaku on loan this summer. The 20-year-old had an excellent campaign with West Brom last season and is therefore widely believed to be part of Jose Mourinho’s first team plans next season; something the Belgian striker insists he has been informed by the Portuguese. However new Besiktas manager Slaven Bilic is said to be keen to try add him to the club on loan for the season; however it now looks a deal is unlikely and they will instead turn their attention to Emmanuel Adebayor of Tottenham.

Finally and Chelsea have told St Etienne to name the price they desire for young French defender Kurt Zouma. The talented teenager is being lined up by Mourinho as a future star of the team.
