Liverpool have now joined the race for Italian starlet Jorginho. The creative midfielder, full name Jorge Luiz Frello Filho, has previously been strongly linked with AC Milan, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United but according to reports in Italy Liverpool are now at the front of that queue; ready to offer a deal worth £8 million for the Brazilian born 21-year-old currently at Hellas Verona.
Jamie Carragher has urged Luis Suarez to stay at Anfield. The Uruguayan striker has been regularly touting a potential move away from the club this summer; with Real Madrid the likely recipients of the superstar striker. He did however also point out that Liverpool can’t complain about the interest in a player he dubbed ‘the best in the Premier League’. He cited the way they pursued him from Ajax as an example of the interest that is always going to be present around his name.
Pepe Reina’s future at Liverpool may have been assured by Brendan Rodgers; but if Simon Mignolet has anything to say about it he might just want an exit. The Belgian recently signed for the Anfield club for a fee of £9 million. Mignolet had this to say about his move to the club:
‘’I had a very positive meeting with Brendan Rodgers before signing for Liverpool. I can't say what we discussed, and whether there were any assurances about starting games. That's between us, but it's fair to say the purpose of this move is not so I can look on from the sidelines.’’
Liverpool are said to be weighing up a bid for Gremio midfielder Matheus Biteco. Valued at £5 million by his club the 18-year-old reportedly caught the eye at the recent Toulon tournament representing Brazil. They are also on the verge of signing Spanish youngsters Sergi Canos and Pedro Chirivella from Barcelona and Valencia respectively.
