Should Tottenham Hotspur consider a double swoop on Dinamo Zagreb?

Tin Jedvaj and Alen Halilovic have been turning heads across Europe this season, should Tottenham Hotspur consider a bid for both Dinamo Zagreb youngsters this summer?

Tottenham Hotspur know better than most Premier League sides the benefit of signing players who have come through the Dinamo Zagreb youth academy, having enjoyed the talents of Luka Modric at White Hart Lane for several seasons. At the moment the Croatian side have a slew of excellent young players on their books, and two of them in particular are likely to be targeted by clubs around Europe this summer.

Tin Jedvaj has already been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Roma, with the 17-year-old defender rising to prominence over the last 12 months, even earning a call up to the full Croatian squad.

Dinamo Zagreb have already reportedly turned down a bid of around £5million for the youngster, but could sell Jedvaj if one of the three sides currently chasing him offer £6.5million.

Perhaps even more promising is attacking midfielder Alen Halilovic, who went one better than Jedvaj this year to actually make his debut for the Croatian national side. Also 17, Halilovic played 21 games for Dinamo Zagreb last season, including three substitute appearances in the Champions League.

An attacking midfielder, Halilovic is rated as one of the best young prospects in Europe, and even at his young age his price-tag would likely reflect that, with Dinamo unlikely to sell for less than the €15million they received from Inter for Mateo Kovacic in January.

Spurs have other priorities in their first team in this transfer window, and their fans are hoping rumours that they are closing to shelling out around £25million for David Villa and Paulinho prove correct, perhaps making it unlikely they would be willing to spend £15-20million on two 17-year-olds this summer.

However if another big side snaps up either Halilovic or Jedvaj, the odds are that Spurs will not get another chance to sign either youngster, and investing now might prove to be an excellent decision if the Croatians fulfil their abundant potential at White Hart Lane.
