A select round up of the latest news stories and transfer rumours about Manchester City.
Napoli have described Manchester City’s bid for Chelsea target Edinson Cavani as inadequate. The two clubs have been chasing the Uruguayan forward for several weeks but City will have to come up with a bid of well over £50 million which seems the minimum the Italian side will accept.
The Mail claim Oscar Cardozo of Benfica is an option for City to replace Carlos Tevez. The prolific striker is up for sale at the Portuguese clubs after falling out with his manager Jorge Jesus. His price is estimated to be around £17 million.
Prolific German striker Mario Gomez has also been suggested as a replacement for Carlos Tevez. The Bayern Munich star is thought to be surplus to requirements in his homeland which means City could do a good value deal to bring him to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
Aleksandar Kolarov could follow former City striker Carlos Tevez to Juventus. The Argentinian striker has just completed a switch to Serie A and Kolarov has hinted he will follow Tevez if he’s not given the regular football he feels he deserves next season.
New Manchester City signing Jesus Navas scored the penalty which put Spain through to the final of the Confederations Cup. The winger calmly slotted home which has set up a final meeting between Brazil and Spain with Uruguay and Italy competing for third and fourth place.
Real Madrid defender Pepe has been suggested as the next high profile target for Manuel Pellegrini. However, the arrival of the Portuguese defender could threaten the position of Matija Nastasic in the City squad, who was one of the club’s best defenders last season.
Bruma has revealed he is flattered by the apparent interest from Manchester City. The winger is currently away on international duty with the Portuguese Under-20 side but could end up at City by the end of the summer transfer window if Sporting Lisbon accept a deal the club puts forward.
Manchester City target Stevan Jovetic will not be moving to AC Milan in a swap deal. The striker had been tipped for a switch in return for Stephan El Shaarawy but the deal has been rubbished which means a possible move to the Etihad Stadium is still on the cards for him.
Former England boss Glen Hoddle has urged Gareth Bale to consider moving to one of the big Manchester clubs. Bale looks set for a switch to Real Madrid this summer but Hoddle’s words could force City to seriously consider making a bid for the prolific winger.
The wife of former Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz has urged the player to turn down a move to Germany and switch to Serie A with Bologna. Santa Cruz had been on the verge of a deal with Hamburg but it seems he may change his mind at the last minute.
