European transfer talk: Featuring Dragovic, Payet and Draxler

Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Southampton and Sunderland targets feature along with a couple of ex-Manchester City youngsters.

Asier Illarramendi is reportedly the number one transfer target for new Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti. Dubbed ‘the next Xabi Alonso’ he will be difficult to obtain considering his lengthy contract and high price-tag. Madrid are also chasing Marco Veratti, Paulinho and Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Former Manchester City winger Vladimir Weiss is on the move again. The Slovakian 23-year-old had left Italian outfit Pescara on a free transfer after the club were relegated from Serie A last season. He has agreed a three-year deal with Greek champions Olympiakos and he declared himself very happy with the move.

Another former Manchester City player on his way to a new club is Gelson Fernandes. The Swiss international has left Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon in order to join Bundesliga team SC Freiburg for a fee of £250k.

Reported Arsenal, Everton and Southampton target Aleksander Dragovic has declared himself pleased with a link to Inter Milan. The Austrian had an excellent season last campaign and is widely tipped to leave current club FC Basel this summer. Basel chief Bernhard Heusler has also stated that concrete negotiations have begun between the parties involved.

Dimitri Payet has been talking about his move to Marseille from Lille. The French international winger was previously linked with Arsenal but has stated that his move to the south of France was a ‘sporting choice’. He says he wanted regular first-team football ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Schalke 04 president Clemens Tonnie has stated he will not stand in the way of Julian Draxler if a big club were to come in for him. The 19-year-old has previously been linked with Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund and despite assertions from the player that he is not keen on an exit it appears to be a possibility.

Bayer Leverkusen have completed the signing of Bosnian international Emir Spahic from Sevilla. The 32-year-old spent the second phase of last season out on loan at Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala after previously making a name for himself at French outfit Montpellier. The fee for the player has not been disclosed.

Finally, and the continued transfer saga involving Diego at Wolfsburg continues. The Brazilian international wants a move from Germany this summer and has admitted he would prefer to join Atletico Madrid over Santos.
