Chelsea have been told to double their opening bid to land Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy.
Jose Mourinho reportedly commissioned a £5 million bid for the player last night, but Norwich are reluctant to sell one of their best players unless they get undoubted superb value from the deal.
Ruddy has been one of Norwich’s best players since he joined the club and his Premier League form has seen him called up to the England squad frequently as back up to Joe Hart.
Chelsea will switch their attention to signing Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund if they don’t pull off a deal for Edinson Cavani.
Cavani’s current club Napoli are playing hard ball over the price with Chelsea willing to pay £40 million for the striker and Napoli holding out for just over £50 million.
Lewandowski has also been linked with high profile Premier League moves to Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal this summer with speculation also suggesting a possible move to Bayern Munich.
The move is thought to have stalled as van Ginkel doesn’t want to risk his chances of playing for the Netherlands at the World Cup next summer but sources have suggested Chelsea still believe they can do a deal.
Van Ginkel has a reported fee of around the £9 million mark but is thought to want assurances over his place in the Chelsea first team ahead of the tournament in Brazil next year.
