3. 1919 - The Treaty of Versailles is signed in France, ending World War I

4. 1960 - At least 37 men are killed in a gas explosion at a coal mine in Monmouthshire, Wales

5. 1971 - The U.S. Supreme Court overturns the draft evasion conviction of Muhammad Ali

6. 1976 - Three Britons and an American are sentenced to death by firing squad for their roles during the Angolan civil war

7. 1986 - Wham! make their farewell concert appearance at London's Wembley Stadium

8. 1991 - Margaret Thatcher announces she is to give up her seat in the House of Commons at the next General Election
