West Ham? Cardiff? Spurs? Five destinations for free agent French international

Where could Anthony Reveillere be playing his football next season?

At this time of year they are plenty of free agents knocking around just waiting for a club to give them a chance; then there are the other free agents who are waiting to give a club a chance such as the talent they would offer them.

This summer one such player has to be former Lyon full-back Anthony Reveillere.

The former Rennes and Valencia man is everything a team in the Premier League would look for. Experienced but still fit at the age of 33 he has 13 caps for the French national team. He is also versatile; capable of playing equally adept at both right and left back.

He has even shown a capability to play in the centre when needed.

This time last year he was on the brink of a move to Paris Saint-German that fell through at the last minute and in January was linked with QPR.

Lyon are looking at youth and have let him go in order to facilitate the move of French under-21 captain Sebastian Corchia.

But where could the experienced defender end up if the Premier League did prove his first choice destination?

Cardiff City

One area where the newly promoted Welsh side look weak is in the full-back areas. Reveillere would provide competition on both sides and keep the first choice duo on their toes for the season.

The Saints have Nathaniel Clyne and Luke Shaw as their first choice full-backs. However both are young and prone to injury and fitness concerns; so an experienced utility man could be perfect.

Reveillere is just the kind of stand-up professional footballer that Paolo Di Canio would love to have in his current team. A family-man who it will be very unlikely to catch lying on a casino floor surrounded by £20 notes Phil Bardsley style. He also happens to be twice as good as the current full-back utility man.

Tottenham Hotspur

Reveillere could link up with former team-mate Hugo Lloris at White Hart Lane and provide experienced cover as well as continue playing European football.

West Ham United

The Hammers have previously been linked with the player but they have now agreed to sign Razvan Rat so it would have to be as a right-back.

And Reveillere would feel confident about usurping Joey O’Brien and Guy Demel for that starting slot.
