All the latest news and gossip relating to Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham have announced a pre-season friendly against big spending Monaco on Saturday August 3. The match will take place in Monaco, and give Andre Villas-Boas the chance to be re-united with former Porto players Falcao and Joao Moutinho who played under him.
Moutinho was a target for Spurs last season, and the match, currently their penultimate pre-season game, will be an ideal early preparation for Tottenham's defenders to test themselves against one of the best strikers in Europe ahead of the Premier League season.
Brazilian club Corinthians say they are currently in the dark over Paulinho's next move, with the midfielder yet to make his choice on his next move known to the club. He is currently on international duty and will not decide until after the Confederations Cup - and while he recently intimated a move to England is a dream and he could not turn down Spurs, clearly a transfer is a way off being official.
Andre Villas-Boas remains confident Gareth Bale will stay at Spurs despite fresh stories linking him away with Real Madrid. He told the Portuguese press:
"The chairman said that we are not open to offers, whatever they are, and that the player will stay, in football anything can happen, but these are the guarantees given to me."
Stoke City are considering snapping up Spurs flop David Bentley, who officially becomes a free agent on July 1. The interest is somewhat inevitable given the appointment of manager Mark Hughes who under Bentley enjoyed the best spell of his career at Blackburn Rovers.
Brad Friedel says he has no intention of quitting playing anytime soon despite being firmly second choice at Tottenham behind Hugo Lloris, and apparently has no desire to force a transfer. Friedel, 42, says he enjoys being at Spurs and will continue playing until his body tells him no more or Spurs inform him he is no longer required.
