Arsenal latest: Including Higuain and Fellaini

Higuain Celebrates Argentina

All the latest Arsenal transfer news and gossip.

Arsenal remain in pursuit of signing Gonzalo Higuain, and that desire potentially moved a step closer today. This is because Real Madrid at long last installed Carlo Ancelotti as manager. The move had been held up with Real refusing to move any deal forward before bringing him in.

The Italian will face the media later this week, and could give away his plans regarding Higuain then, or a move could even be sanctioned beforehand. For now Arsenal are hanging onto see what the former Chelsea manager decides to do.

The Independent claim a move could be approved within 24 hours, while the Guardian also believe Ancelotti will give the green light.

Laurent Koscielny has distanced himself with talk linking him to Bayern Munich and Barcelona, again insisting he is happy at Arsenal for now. He also described Arsenal's win in Munich earlier this year as the 'trigger' which saved their season.

Arsenal are said to be backing off Marouane Fellaini after it emerged the Everton midfielder wants £100,000 a week to join them. Such a salary would make him the club's highest earner alongside Theo Walcott. Zenit St Petersburg are said to have also joined the hunt for the Belgian midfielder to replace compatriot Axel Witsel who is likely to be sold this summer.

Liverpool are close to signing Simon Mignolet, which has the potential to put former Arsenal target Pepe Reina back on the market. Reina claimed Arsenal had a £20 million bid for him turned down in 2010, and at 30-years-old is thought to be keen to play Champions League football once again.

Yaya Sanogo was on the scoresheet again for France's under-20 side yesterday, which makes it 12 in 16 games in all competitions in 2013 for the striker. Sanogo will complete his move to Arsenal on July 1.

Arsenal have been linked with another young Frenchman, defender Bernard Mendy of Le Havre. The French side want £5 million for his services, which is said to be twice what Arsenal want to pay. You can find out more about the defender here.

And finally, former captain Tony Adams has been outspoken in recent days, and has now been linked with a managerial vacancy in Turkey. We wonder whether such a move would be his final chance to prove himself in management after his previous failures.
