Piet Moerland has been Chairman of the bank since 1 July 2009. He has worked at senior management positions since 1979 - with a short break. He has served as a member of the Board of Trustees (1984-1987), the Board of Directors (1987-2000), the Advisory Board (2000-2003) and the Executive Board (2003-present).
Moerland said: 'Next year I will turn 65 years and will have had the great pleasure of working for Rabobank for over 30 years. I feel privileged to have worked with so many great and inspiring people. I'm still full of energy and spirit and will remain committed, not only as chairman, but also in the leadership of the domestic banking operations, including the implementation of our program Vision 2016. Together with my wife, after my departure, I hope to enjoy arts and culture, and of course friends and family'.
Wout Dekker, Chairman of the Supervisory Board: 'Piet's decision to step down comes at an appropriate time. He will be 65 next year. Led by Piet Moerland and his fellow board members, the bank has deployed a strategic change and I am delighted that Piet will continue to provide leadership to the change that the bank will make in the coming months. "Vision 2016" combines the cooperative nature and quality of the services with the efficiency and financial soundness of Rabobank. The Supervisory Board will now search for a suitable successor. Here we will proceed very carefully to consider both internal and external candidates'.
