The Arsenal fan in our local at Shepherd's Bush was waxing lyrical about the club's prospects this coming season.
'I've been an Arsenal season ticket holder for 40 years', he said, 'And I don't think I ever been so upbeat about our prospects. Wenger's splashing the cash, and silverware is coming home - especially if we get Wayne Rooney'.
'Rooney's off to Chelsea (that's if he leaves at all)', came the response from the corner.
'Manchester United won't sell Rooney to Chelsea; they'll only sell him to a club that won't be challenging for trophies', someone interjected.
'He'll sign for Arsenal, then', said the wag in the cap. Everyone fell about laughing.
'Mock me not', said the Arsenal fan. 'With Rooney playing off the front, partnering with Jack Wilshere, it will be great news for Arsenal - and great news for England too.
'How about Tony Adams for the board, then ?', someone asked.
'Kind of him to offer', replied the Arsenal fan, 'But I don't think so'.
'No', the wag in the cap replied, 'It's Chips with everything at the Emirates these days'.
