Two names linked with signing for Arsenal over the past month have emerged over the weekend as potential transfer targets for Italian side Roma.
They are left-winger Dimitri Payet who plays for Lille, and goalkeeper Julio Cesar who is simply too good to be playing Championship football for QPR.
Reports had even suggested an Arsenal move for Cesar was close to completion, but his involvement at the Confederations Cup with Brazil appears to have placed any potential switch on ice.
Roma were reported to be interested by the Italian press over the weekend, news which was relayed to the goalkeeper by interviewers in Brazil, and he didn't sound like a deal with the Gunners had been completed, and if it has he wasn't giving anything away.
"I'm happy to hear about the Roma interest. but at the moment I don't want to talk about my future. I am only thinking about Brazil."
"I'm happy at the moment. After everything that happened at Inter, my career has changed a lot. But I'm here at the moment and QPR will decide my future as well."
The situation regarding Dimitri Payet is a little more complicated, for at least it is inevitable that Cesar will leave QPR - By contrast Lille may elect not to sell a winger who scored 13 goals and provided 22 assists for them last season.
Marseille are also interested in the player, while at the weekend Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport claimed Roma are ready to enter the bidding.
While neither are yet imminent to sign for the Giallorossi, it indicates Arsenal are not going to have a free run at either, and in the case of Cesar a deal is not yet done.
Do you want Arsenal to pursue interest in either player?
