News relating to potential transfers at Anfield including Luis Suarez, Simon Mignolet, Jonjo Shelvey and Arouna Kone.
Liverpool are now on the verge of signing Simon Mignolet from Sunderland. The Belgian international will now discuss personal terms regarding a move to Anfield after a fee between the two sides was agreed on Saturday.
It does not however necessarily mean an exit is imminent for current number one stopper Pepe Reina. The Spaniard has said he will welcome the arrival of the new keeper while Brendan Rodgers insists he arrives as competition not a replacement.
There is still worry over the Luis Suarez situation - with the suggestion today that Real Madrid will wait until the end of August to make a bid for the Uruguayan. It is believed that Real may make a late move for the striker in order to snap him up in similar fashion to the way they signed Michael Owen in 2004. The hope from the Spanish capital would be that such a move would decrease the value of the player nearer to their valuation.
Liverpool are said to be in a transfer battle with Arsenal for Greek centre half Kyriakos Papadopoulos. The Schalke 04 defender is apparently not available according to his Bundesliga club but it is still reported that a £12 million tug-of-war could commence for the player.
Wigan Athletic striker Arouna Kone, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, has issued a come and get me plea to Premier League clubs. He wants to remain in the top tier of English football and Everton and Crystal Palace are also said to be keen in the player valued at £10 million.
Finally and after the arrival of Luis Alberto from Sevilla Liverpool appear ready to let Jonjo Shelvey leave the club this summer. The England under-21 international is valued at £7 million by the club. Meanwhile Jay Spearing, who was on loan at Bolton Wanderers last campaign, has also been told he can leave for £3 million; with Hull City reportedly keen.
