Five players who should leave Chelsea before pre-season

Marko Marin

We highlight five players who could potentially leave Chelsea this summer.

The Transfer Window is now in full flow as many a rumour, done deal and negotiation begin to dominate the column inches. Now while we more often or not associate this time of year with new arrivals let us not forget that some players also have to depart.

Chelsea have Jose Mourinho returning and he has already made some big decisions regarding the clubs loan players this summer.

But if any of his players wanted to leave and get a full pre-season under a new teams tag then now might be the right time.

Here are five that fit the bill…

Jeffrey Bruma

The Dutch international has failed to make a permanent impact at Stamford Bridge despite being at the club for six years now.

He spent the past two seasons on loan at German outfit Hamburg SV. However he finished the season out of the team and will find it very unlikely to play any part in Chelsea’s 2013-14 season.

He could join his cousin Kyle Ebecilio at FC Twente to try rebuild his career

Josh McEachran

Another who spent last season out on loan the gjfted midfielder had a season of two halves at Middlesbrough.

He tailed off toward the end of the campaign and with increased challenge for places courtesy of Kevin de Bruyne and Andre Schurrle now might be right for him to fly the nest.

Marko Marin

The German international saw his debut season ruined by injury but even when fit he looked very far off the ‘German Messi’ tag afforded to him.

With reports suggesting Russian and German clubs could be keen; cutting his losses could be a good move.

Sam Hutchinson

A popular player at the club he returned after an initial retirement in 2010 and spent last campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest.

However he suffered another knee injury which kept him out for much of the campaign and now back to full fitness he will have to move on for regular football.

Patrick van Aanholt

Jose Mourinho likes to have two players for every position and at left-back there is currently three options available to him. Ashley Cole is going nowhere so we assume that it will be between the Dutchman or the Englishman Ryan Bertrand.
