Reports in Spain suggest that City and Manuel Pellegrini have missed out on their man this summer.
Manchester City have been speaking about their transfer plans for the summer recently and the potential to add more to the names of Jesus Navas and Fernandinho already at The Etihad for next term has been heightening.
As it was confirmed that City would no longer be chasing the services of Edinson Cavani because of his astronomical transfer valuation Manuel Pellegrini also made it clear that he would love to have Isco at the club next season.
The Chilean helped shape Isco last season into one of La Liga and Europe’s top young playmakers and he demonstrated that ability at the recent 2013 European Under-21 Championships with three goals in five games as Spain retained their crown.
And the hope was that the close bond the pair formed at Malaga could prove a major bargaining chip in any transfer negotiations this summer; as there was significant competition for his services.
Real Madrid were also being credited with an interest in the player and over the past 24 hours it looks as though that is exactly where Isco will go this summer.
It has been reported on Madrid radio station Cade Naser that the deal is done; with Real president Florentino Perez personally finalising a deal with Malaga representatives on Friday.
With Laurent Blanc taking over at Paris Saint-Germain the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti is imminent and with that in mind transfer related business is due to be tied up over the coming days with the exit of Gonzalo Higuain to Arsenal also highly expected.
The official cost of the deal has not yet been confirmed but is expected to be somewhere in between 25 to 30 million Euros.
The deal certainly represents a blow for City as Isco was rumoured to be one of the clubs marquee targets for the summer and they will now have to turn their attentions elsewhere if this Spanish source ha their information correct.
