If Reina decided to leave Anfield this summer where could he end up?
Liverpool have today agreed a fee for Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet believed to be in excess of £11 million - and the immediate attention turned to what will happen next to their current incumbent Pepe Reina.
Mignolet and Reina will not want to be anything but first choice keeper during a World Cup year with serious competition for places in both the Belgian and Spanish goalkeeping ranks.
So while Reina maintains his desire to stay at Anfield for the three remaining years of his current deal we know that will not be the case should he lose the number one spot; but where could Reina go?
The Rossoneri need a new stopper as the aged hands of Christian Abbiati begin to wain and have been linked with a number of top targets this summer.
They would be able to offer Reina first-team football and he would be in their price range.
The likeliest option is that he remains in the Premier League with Arsenal in search of a new stopper this summer.
Wojciech Szczesny failed to convince last term while the injury prone Lukasz Fabianski simply cannot be trusted.
A skilled and trustworthy Premier League stopper could be exactly what they are after.
Reina has been linked with a return to his former club ever since Victor Valdes admitted he could be on his way this summer.
However with Valdes now set to remain at Barca until 2014, allied with the breaking news over Marc Andre Ter Stegen signing for the Spanish champions, this deal looks off.
The big-spending Ligue 1 outfit were one team said to be chasing Valdes this summer but with it looking like he is staying at the Nou Camp they will have to turn their attentions elsewhere.
Could Claudio Ranieri offer Reina riches in the principality?
Well this is probably the least likely of all the deals but you never know. The 30-year-old played for the Yellow Submarine for three years before going to Merseyside and after their recent promotion back to La Liga they might be looking to add a marquee player or two to their ranks.
Whether they have the cash for such a deal remains to be seen.
Where do you think Reina will be playing next season? Liverpool?
