Liverpool have agreed a fee for Sunderland's Simon Mignolet, according to Sky Sports, a move which leaves Pepe Reina's Anfield future in doubt.

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has said there are few clubs in the world bigger than the Anfield side. Reina has been constantly linked with moves away from Merseyside but looks set to start the season as Liverpool’s number one as the club strive to break the top four in the Premier League.

Liverpool’s Spanish transfer target Luis Alberto is on course to complete his switch to Anfield, after having a medical at the club earlier today. The youngster is now set to join the side officially next month barring any major health problems which are picked up by the examination.

Liverpool’s planned deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan is in doubt after the news that he’s not entirely owned by Shakhtar Donetsk. Liverpool were being strongly linked with a big money bid for the midfielder but it’s since emerged that his current club only own 50% of him.

FC Twente winger Nacer Chadli is apparently ready to turn down a move to Ukraine to secure a Premier League transfer. Liverpool have been touted as a possible destination for the player, which could very much be on as he’s made it clear he wants to move to England.

Martin Skrtel’s chances of signing for Napoli have taken a blow after reports suggesting he’s too expensive to the Italian club. Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez was being heavily linked with a move for the Slovakian defender who continues to see his future at Anfield hang in the balance.

Hearts have confirmed their proposed deal to sign Danny Wilson from Liverpool has fallen through. Wilson had agreed to join Hearts when his Liverpool contract expired but an SPL registration embargo on the club forbids them from adding the young defender to their ranks.

Reading defender Alex Pearce has signed a new two-year contract with the club, ending speculation that he could sign for Liverpool. Pearce was tipped to become a squad defender for Brendan Rodgers but he’s chosen to sign a slightly improved deal with his current employers.

Liverpool midfielder Suso will play in Spain’s opening match of the Under 20 World Cup. Spain open with a match against the USA and the midfielder has been rewarded for his good form in the Liverpool first team and Development Squad towards the back end of last season.

Andy Carroll has set up his transfer from Liverpool to West Ham United. Everything is in place for Liverpool to receive a £15.5 million fee, almost a £20 million loss on what they originally paid for the player to sign him from Newcastle United under the Kenny Dalglish era.
