News and gossip from the past 24 hours at The Emirates.
The deal for Gonzalo Higuain is said to be on the verge of completion. It has been reported that Arsenal officials have now flown out to Madrid in order to put the final touches to what will be a club record transfer for the Argentine.
It is said that Higuain has already agreed personal terms with The Gunners and all that is left to be tied up is the transfer fee.
It is also being reported that they will decide to go after Maraoune Fellaini this summer. Arsenal have reportedly been contemplating the deal for a while but have been unsure over the £23 million release clause they would have to pay Everton for the Belgian but now it seems they are ready to press on with the deal.
The Gunners are also said to be ready to bid £6million for teenage Croatian defender Tin Jedvaj. The 17-year-old is highly rated in his homeland and is valued at over £5 million by current club Dinamo Zagreb. AS Roma have also been chasing the teenagers signature this month.
Arsenal’s Vietnam tour will go ahead despite yet another row over the fixture. This time the row erupted over a map of the country on Arsenal’s promotional video of the match which did not show the disputed Spratley and Paracel Islands as belonging to Vietnam. The Paracel Islands are claimed by China while six regional nations claim ownership of the Spratly Islands. The game will go ahead but it is the second time it has been under threat in less than a fortnight; with the previous reason being the cost of renting the My Dinh National Stadium.
Arsenal could make a move for Adam Maher once again as rivals for his signature dropped out of the running. The AZ Alkmaar has long been a target for Arsene Wenger and after what was widely expected to be his most likely destination Ajax pulled out of a deal The Gunners are now in pole position.
