A round-up of news and views relating to Chelsea over the past 24 hours.
Turkish newspaper Sabah has claimed that John Obi Mikel is on the verge on completing a move to Galatasaray, running quotes from the midfielder saying that he will leave Chelsea once they agree a fee with the Turkish club.
"I have played at Chelsea for a long time and it's now time for me to leave," he said.
''Talks have reached an advanced level between Chelsea and Galatasaray. Chelsea won't make the move difficult and regarding my salary there won't be a problem.”
However Chelsea have flatly denied the reports, saying that Mikel is on international duty with Nigeria and that he has not given any interview.
Hull midfielder David Meyler has said that he hopes his team can spoil Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge when they play Chelsea on the opening day of next season’s Premier League. Chelsea play newly-promoted Hull on the 17th August before heading to Old Trafford to play Manchester United a week later.
Chelsea defender David Luiz will have surgery to fix his broken nose after the Confederations Cup. The 26-year-old defender picked up the injury in a collision with team-mate Thiago Silva during Brazil's 2-0 win over Mexico last night.
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michel Zorc has said that his club have not given up in their attempts to sign Kevin De Bruyne, despite Mourinho indicating the midfielder will have a role at Chelsea next season. Zorc said earlier in the week that he believes De Bruyne would like to join Dortmund this summer.
Chelsea are considering joining the race for Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who is apparently available for around £15.4million this summer. Manchester United have also been linked with the 22-year-old, who scored a hat-trick as Spain beat Italy 4-2 to win the Under-21 European Championship on Tuesday night.
Edinson Cavani has said that he has not made any decisions about his future yet, despite speculation that is close to agreeing a move to Real Madrid. The news could be a boost to Chelsea and Manchester City’s hopes of signing the Uruguayan striker.
We have a couple of David Luiz related pieces on HITC today, one looking at the Twitter reaction to his nasty injury in last night’s Confederations Cup match for Brazil, and the other on the results of a poll suggesting most fans think he is a better midfielder than a defender.
