Not smiling now are we David? Chelsea man Luiz mocked on Twitter after nasty nose injury

David Luiz

Footy fans could not help but play the Sideshow Bob card after David Luiz hurt his nose in Brazil's 2-0 win over Mexico.

Brazil won their second game of the Confederations Cup against Mexico on Wednesday night with David Luiz of Chelsea playing a pivotal figure throughout. He had a solid game but more of the attention focused on the guys nose than his hair for once.

Luiz damaged the point on his face pretty badly in the game which left him groggy and a little spaced out on the turf; to the point where he managed to get both blood on his shirt and shorts.

So for the female fan of Luiz they got to see him stripped down to his jocks.

But for one keen watcher of the occasion we imagine there was little sympathy.

When Rafael was sent off for his petulant kick David Luiz was widely criticised for his role in the red-card; seen smiling to the crowd as the referee made his decision.

So seeing him on the floor holding an area of his body that actually was in pain I imagine barely got a response in the Da Silva household.

Other then an ironic smile that is.

Luiz at the time stated the reason he smiled was purely bad timing; at that very point a United fan decided to make the comparison between the Brazilian footballer and The Simpsons cartoon villain Sideshow Bob voiced by Kelsey Grammar.

One of Sideshow Bob’s trademark funny moments in The Simpsons involved him grizzling away after stepping on a rake; and in hilarious fashion propelling it toward his face.

Which by the way I have seen happen in reality and is far funnier in real-life then on the TV screen (sorry Max).

But the potential for hilarity was not lost on users of Twitter as many pointed out that the nasty nosebreak could in fact have been caused by such an incident; as you can see below…

Now nobody tell Rafa Benitez … he gets pretty upset when people call Luiz by the name Sideshow Bob.
