Festive cheer for Luis Suarez and Branislav Ivanovic - if Liverpool striker sticks it out

Luis Suarez Bite

Luis Suarez could be sent into 2014 with a limp by the Chelsea man - if he stays at Liverpool this summer.

The fixture lists were released for the 2012-13 season yesterday morning and when I peruse the list on its release date I always go for a couple of big dates that are always favourites of mine.

Obviously the first day of the season and the last; picking who might be playing in relegation six-pointers in May and who to look out for in Game One.

Then there is Boxing Day.

Probably my favourite fixture day of the season; but in all honesty I was pretty nonplussed with what I saw. I have a genuine dislike to watching Manchester City play so their tie with Liverpool doesn’t appeal to me while Norwich V Fulham also fails to sufficiently whet my appetite (no offence intended).

So this year I looked a couple of days into the future.

The Festive season will still be going on when the Premier League teams face each other once again on the 28th. I mean let’s face it; the Christmas decorations won’t be down yet while kids and Wayne Rooney will still be munching on advent chocolate every morning (they weren’t like that back in my day).

And what better way or place to spread festive cheer than Chelsea for the visit of Liverpool.

Where we might even find out if Luis Suarez was on Branislav Ivanovic’s Christmas Card list this year.

It will be the first time the pair have an opportunity to face each other since Suarez tried to take home a little piece of Ivanovic as a souvenir of his memorable April encounter with the Serbian.

The ‘moment of madness’ cost him a ten-goal suspension and a scathing assessment from Zimbabwean Prime Minister Robert Mugabe; that is a bit like being told you are a bad guest by King Leopold II.

So I for one hope that Luis Suarez stops polluting the air with his talk of a Premier League exit. I do not want him going anywhere until after he is sought for retribution by the cunning but bull-like Ivanovic on December the 28th; as the Serbian is certainly likely to send him off into the New Year crooked - limping along to Auld Lang Syne.

Then he can go to Madrid, Milan or Mogadishu for all I care.

But not a minute sooner.

Do you think Suarez will still be around to face Ivanovic on December 28th?
