‘84%’ of fans feel Chelsea defender David Luiz is better in midfield

There is no doubt where football fans feel Luiz should be playing on a regular basis.

Brazil took on Mexico last night and once again all eyes were on Neymar. In recent months the Brazilian starlet dubbed to be the ‘next Pele’ looked like following the many predecessors given that unwanted and rather weighty tag by going slightly wonky with his talents.

But it seems the confidence boost (and happiness that only a pay-rise can bring) of a massive move to Barcelona has certainly sparked him into life. He bagged another goal in the fixture to make Joey Barton perhaps put his Tweeting to rest (for now) and showcase his talents to the world for once; not just saving it all for those greedy Brazilians.

Meanwhile Jo liked reminding us Everton and Manchester City fans that he is still out there and that when he isn’t sulking that his second hobby is scoring goals.

But before and throughout the game it was David Luiz who was getting much of the attention again.

He was trending on Twitter; in no small part to him breaking his nose and having to strip down to his jocks to get back in the action.

But he also had an excellent game at the heart of Brazil’s defence.

Which had the BBC Videprinter asking questions; what is Luiz’s best position?

Originally a defender Rafa Benitez tended to use him in the central midfield area last year and he did a great job in both positions; but if he had to choose one which would he excel most in?

Well according to those tuned into the BBC live-chat; midfield.

84% replied #MIDFIELD and 16% #DEFENCE when asked which position better suits David Luiz.

The general consensus is that he can play both but midfield suits him more; it means when he does go a little flaky he is far enough away from goal that it doesn’t pose a problem to poor old Petr Cech’s fraying nerves.

As far as Chelsea fans are concerned it doesn’t matter. They love him and he is world class at both; a win-win situation.

The only question that remains for next season will be; what does Jose Mourinho think?

Where should David Luiz play regularly?
