Even Moelis & Co Is Said To Have Cut Staff

Exit Sign

It's still tough out there - all over.

Bloomberg reports that Moelis & Co., the advisory firm founded by Kenneth Moelis in 2007, eliminated the jobs of about 20 bankers in New York and London, people with knowledge of the matter said.

The cuts, which reduced the firm’s global workforce of 600 by about 3%, were at the Vice President and Senior Vice President level, said the people, who asked not to be named because the reductions haven’t been made public.

Moelis reduced its staff as part of its six-month business review, the people said.

In the meantime, Bank of America hired Anwar Zakkour from JPMorgan Chase as co-head of global telecommunications, media and technology investment banking, according to a memo obtained by Bloomberg.

Zakkour will remain based in New York, reporting to global head of investment banking Christian Meissner, according to the memo, whose contents were confirmed by a Bank of America spokesman. His co-head will be Chet Bozdog, currently head of global technology investment banking.

Finally, Bloomberg also reports that Daniel Brebner is leaving his job as the London-based head of metals research at Deutsche Bank, according to two people familiar with the matter.
