It was claimed after the event, that on deadline day in January, Arsenal made an approach to sign defensive midfielder Etienne Capoue.
The Toulouse man was even linked with Barcelona last summer, and went onto enjoy an impressive 2012/13 for his club, but has made no secret of his desire to move.
As well as refusing to bat off Arsenal talk, the Frenchman earlier this year described PSG as a 'dream club', a comment which may well have set off alarm bells in the heads of the Gunners hierarchy.
Now French newspaper L'Equipe is reporting that the 24-year-old is is negotiations with Monaco over a switch.
"According to our information, the agent of Toulouse player, Mino Raiola, had entered into negotiations with the club from the Principality. TFC demand 15 million."
Mino Raiola is one the football world's most infamous agents, representing Mario Balotelli and also negotiating Henrikh Mkhitaryan's possible switch to Liverpool at present.
Capoue talking to Monaco is bad news for Arsenal, who will not be willing to match the attractive and tax-free wages the newly promoted club have to offer.
With the club making bold statements via the signings of Falcao, Rodriguez and Moutinho, it's easy to see that Capoue could be swayed by their ambition irrespective of any pitch Arsenal made him.
It appears also there is no such offer on the table from the Gunners, who are now thought to be moving towards Maxime Gonalons for the position instead, or even Real Sociedad midfielder Asier Illarramendi.
Arsenal fans are you disappointed Capoue looks less likely? Who would you rather sign instead?
