Tottenham Hotspur latest: 2013/14 fixtures announced along with Baldini

All the latest Tottenham Hotspur news and gossip.

The Premier League fixtures for the 2013/14 season have been announced, with Tottenham set to face Crystal Palace away on the opening day. They follow that up with home game against Swansea before visiting the Emirates to play Arsenal on just the third weekend of the season.

As HITC's Nick Harris writes, it provides Spurs with even further motivation to get their transfer business wrapped up early, and give themselves the best chance in an early pivotal North London derby.

Other key fixtures for Spurs include Chelsea at home on September 28, facing both Manchester clubs in successive weeks in late November and hosting West Brom on Boxing Day. They visit Old Trafford on New Year's Day, and host Arsenal on March 15.

Spurs also have a favourable run-in on paper, their last four games being against Fulham (h), Stoke (a), West Ham (a), Aston Villa (h).

Andre Villas-Boas has reacted to the fixtures, stating: “Selhurst Park is always a difficult stadium to go to, it’s a London derby and a tough start."

He added that he is very much looking forward to the season ahead, and the intrigue by three of the top four clubs having new managers.

The other big news is Franco Baldini's appointment as technical director at the club.

Chairman Daniel Levy announced: "Franco is extremely well respected in the industry, possessing an extensive knowledge of players around the world."

"He will strengthen our football management team, particularly in the field of recruitment, working closely with Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood across all levels on the playing side."

Transfer news remains a case of as you were, with Spurs still linked with Brazilian pair of Paulinho and Bernard. Franco Baldini's big challenge will now be to begin closing deals, and his appointment takes the club a step closer to doing that.
