2K and Firaxis Games announce mobile and touch-screen outing for praised XCOM game.
Firaxis Games has announced that it's award winning sci-fi tactical shooter, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, will be hitting iOS devices on June 20th.
Available on the iTunes store for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch for £13.99, the company promises that the iOS adaptation will provide the complete XCOM experience that was enjoyed on PCs and home consoles.
The downloadable title will include the head-to-head multiplayer mode that was later added into the PC and console edition for free.
Additionally, the iOS version will benefit from GameCentre support and iCloud functionality, allowing players to save their progress across their Apple devices.
The success of Firaxis' XCOM title has spawned a new industry based on the franchise, with developer 2K Marin set to release its 1950s-themed squad-based shooter, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, later this year.
During our hands-on preview with the title, we wrote: “If what they've shown so far is any indication of what to expect then brace yourselves for a good time, full of all the consequences and strategy that XCOM fans love.”
