A selection of current transfer news at Liverpool including Luis Suarez, Simon Mignolet and Luis Alberto
Luis Suarez has warned Liverpool that they must listen to him - especially if Real Madrid or Barcelona come calling:
“I have a contract but if one day I want to sign for another club, Liverpool have to hear the offer. The word of the player is important — if you need a change, you should listen to the player. If you ask a child of eight where they want to play they would say Real Madrid or Barcelona.’’
It is the latest in a long line of hints over a possible exit from the club coming from the 26-year-old striker since joining up with Uruguay for international duty.
Meanwhile Iago Aspas, one of Liverpool’s most recent signings, has stated he is not signing as a Suarez replacement. He wants to play with the troubled striker next season after his £7.7 million move from Celta Vigo.
He has been compared to Suarez because of his fiery temper but he says he is a different type of player and wants to be team-mates with the Uruguayan.
The Aspas deal itself is ready to be completed next week after paperwork with the Spanish Football Federation is cleared up.
Simon Mignolet’s move to Liverpool is said to be imminent. Liverpool’s initial £8 million bid is said to have been rejected but a £9million bid is said to be enough to convince Sunderland to part with the Belgian and Liverpool are reportedly ready to up their offer.
An agreement could be in place over the coming days. It will likely cast doubt over the future of Victor Valdes; who has been linked with moves to Arsenal and Barcelona.
Mignolet has previously intimated that he will not be signing a contract extension at the Stadium of Light via his agent Nico Vaesen.
According to Marca Liverpool are also set to step up their chase for Luis Alberto of Sevilla. The attacking midfielder impressed on loan at Barcelona B last season and is apparently available at €8-€10 million. He has also expressed a desire to play for the Anfield club recently.
