Although Chelsea striker Fernando Torres is said to want urgent talks over his future with the returning Jose Mourinho, it is said that he is up for staying and fighting for a place in the team. At least one Arsenal fan, however, feels that he'd do better by going to the Emirates.
Over in Shepherd's Bush, we haven't got much to shout about football-wise, so the talk in the pub usually centres on the big London clubs.
'I've been an Arsenal fan for 40 years', the old boy in the corner said last night. 'And I can't understand why Wenger is worrying about signing an unknown striker for £25m, when he could probably pick up Torres for £15m. He's got to be worth £15m'.
'You clearly haven't seen Torres play this year, have you ?', came the reply from across the table. 'He's a donkey'.
'Chelsea would never sell him to Arsenal anyway', someone else interjected.
'Of course they would', came the reply, 'Arsenal won't do much playing Torres up front. That'd be great news for Chelsea'.
'We're gonna do well this season, though', the Arsenal fan said.
'What, finish fourth again, you mean ?'.
'No, we're gonna actually win something'.
'More chance of me winning the lottery, son, than Arsenal winning a major trophy next season'.
'Mark my words', said the Arsenal man, 'No major trophy will be won by any club outside of the top four ever again'.
'Well it won't be Arsenal with Torres up front, that's for sure....', came the reply.
What do you think ? Should Chelsea ditch Torres (despite his goals last season) ? Could Torres refind his best form under Arsene Wenger ?
